Lip Blush pre/post care instructions

All PMU Appointments require a credit card on file to hold your appointment. Please allow 48 hours for all rescheduling and cancellations, failure to do so will result in a late cancellation fee being charged to the card on file. This fee varies based upon the total fee of the appointment booked. All no-show appointments will be charged the full appointment amount! Respect for one another’s time is of the upmost importance, we are always mindful of your time and expect the same in return. All permanent makeup appointments require a 6 week touchup to finalize your tattoo, this touchup is $75.

Lip Blush Pre-care Instructions:

  • Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Ibuprofen 24 hours prior to treatment. Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours prior to your appointment.

  • Do not drink coffee or energy drinks on the day of treatment.

  • Do not tan or sunbathe 3 days before treatment.

  • Avoid prolonged water exposure, a little water is fine but avoid if possible.

  • Lip Fillers must be done 30 days prior to lip blush

  • Keep lips very hydrated for the full week leading up to your appointment using aquaphor or something similar.

  • 3 days prior to your appointment, gently exfoliate dead skin cells with a warm and damp washcloth. Do not over exfoliate. continue to keep lips very hydrated after this step. -Dry lips and dead skin cells on lips do not tattoo well.

  • If you have EVER had a cold sore at any point in your life, you must be on a prescription anti-viral from your doctor 5 days pre and 5 days post your appointment for a total of 10 days. While the procedure won’t give you herpes, it will trigger an outbreak if you already have the virus in your system. Cold sore outbreaks cause uneven and patchy healing.

  • Please arrange to come by the studio in the days or week leading up to your appointment to get some numbing cream. It is very helpful for both parties for the client to come in with a baseline numbing, additional numbing products will be applied throughout the entire procedure. Alternatively, you can arrive 30 minutes early to your appointment to be numbed.

Permanent Makeup Aftercare Instructions

Day of the Procedure-

Every hour after your appointment for 3 hours, you will clean the lips with either soap from your kit and water or unscented baby wipes and apply aquaphor after you clean. If lips are still bleeding or producing lymph after 3 hours, continue this step each hour until they stop.

Days 2-7 ( or until fully healed, lips often are fully healed by 4-5 days) -

Gently wash area morning and evening for 15 seconds with mild soap included in your kit or baby wipes, pat dry with dry cloth or tissue, do not rub! Do not use any exfoliants, glycolic, AHA, or BHA's. Be mindful that you are not scrubbing or being abrasive in any way to the area, this is simply to keep the area clean. Follow with aquaphor

Days 2-7 ( or until fully healed, lips often are fully healed by 4-5 days)-

Apply Aquaphor as needed throughout the day, do not pick at the peeling lips, let them come off on their own.

DO NOT LET LIPS DRY OUT, keep covered in aquaphor until fully healed.

DO NOT WEAR A FACE MASK for longer than 30 minutes and only if completely necessary. After 30 minutes wash the lips with soap and water and apply aquaphor. A mask is a breeding ground for bacteria and not an environment conducive to tattoo healing.

How long does the procedure take

We start by mapping out your lips according the structure and tissue of the lips and drawing them on the skin with a soft pencil. Once the shape is perfected the procedure takes approximately 1.5-2 hours depending on what type of lip tattoo you requested (lip blush or lipstick effect) and the size of the lips. The whole procedure takes approximately 3.5 hours. We take time and care to make sure you are completely satisfied with the overall result and you will never feel rushed.

Will I need a touch-up

All new PMU services require a 6-8 week perfecting appointment to ensure proper acceptance of pigment and to polish and complete the shape. This touchup is $75. After your initial touch-up most treatments last 12-24 months depending on the technique, how well you follow aftercare instructions and lifestyle. Once you’re ready, you will book a yearly touch-up. Yearly touchup will be same fee whether it’s at 1 or 3 years, as long as the shape doesn’t need to be remapped.
